How to Shoplift or Steal- Thieves in Action

First and foremost, here's my disclaimer: this is, in no way, a how to guide to follow when trying to figure out how to steal. This is simply a hub about my experiences while working in loss prevention over the years and stories of people I've caught. My intent is your entertainment, not to teach you how to steal. Stealing is wrong, and if you are a regular shoplifter it's only a matter of time before you get caught, so don't steal! Trust me, it doesn't pay to steal.

Also, I will not include any specific details. I won't share previous company information, names of people I've caught, etc. This is simply unethical.

Finally, please realize that "loss prevention," "assets protection" and "security" are interchangeable. Different companies call it different things, but they're essentially the same thing.

Now that I've said all that, let's get right to it!

Preventing Shoplifting Without Being Sued: Practical Advice for Retail Executives

My History

I worked for over three years in loss prevention. Prior to that I was in college and my older brother was working as loss prevention for a different company. I heard plenty of fun stories from him and this began to peak my interest. Shortly after I graduated college (with a degree in Pastoral Ministries, no less!), I went into loss prevention for a major retailer. I quickly fell in love with the rush I got every time I made an apprehension and interviewed a shoplifter.

The Game of Catching a Shoplifter

Catching someone shoplifting is like a cat and mouse game. For my company, our work was primarily done on the sales floor. In other words, if you were stealing in my store, I would be out on the sales floor watching your every move. Some people would call this a "secret shopper" job. I viewed it as more of a predator-prey game!

Other companies catch shoplifters primarily using CCTV, or Closed Circuit Television. This can become more difficult, in my opinion, simply because they could lose contact with the shoplifter unless they had a co-worker staying on the cameras as they ran out to the sales floor to apprehend the thief. As I said above, it was expected of me to be on the sales floor during the stealing, but I would typically have at least one co-worker there with me to watch on cameras.

Fun story: I can remember two, distinct times in which I was watching someone on the sales floor and I was no more than TWO feet away from them as the opened and concealed merchandise!

Shoplifting is still shoplifting

Types of Shoplifters

I have a secret to tell you at this point- anyone can shoplift. Black, white, yellow, male, female, old, top security-clearance government contractors, young children, people in wheelchairs and the list goes on. In fact, I've had experience with each one of the above examples! The oldest person I caught was about 70...he had a full head of gray hair and he was stealing several hundreds of dollars worth of merchandise! I think the youngest person I caught was 9, but they can steal even younger than that. And in case you're wondering, YES, I have caught a guy who had a top level security clearance for a government-contracted company. Needless to say, he lost his job. He is now a used car salesman...

In this day in age, there are more than the simple kid-stealing-candy scenarios. (This group of thieves is called opportunists.) There is, in fact, a category of shoplifters whose sole purpose is to resell stolen merchandise. They are called boosters, and they steal in order to resell stolen merchandise (note: reselling stolen merchandise is called "fencing"). Boosters are motivated by different things, but typical reasons that I heard include drugs, rent and livelihood.

Toward the latter half of my tenure in loss prevention, my focus shifted more toward these boosters. In fact, numerous companies are asking their loss prevention staff to focus more on the boosters. Why? Because they lose the most money from these career criminal groups as opposed to the teenagers stealing video games. Think about the numbers here:

Let's say that opportunists steal an average of $30 worth of merchandise each time they hit a store. Let's also say they hit on average of ten times a month. These parameters are pretty typical in a lower risk market (which we'll talk about more), so we can say that opportunists cause a loss of $300 per month.

Now let's say that boosters steal an average of $500 each time they steal from a store. Let's also say they hit on average of two times a month. Again, these are typical parameters in a lower risk market. This means that boosters cause a loss of $1000 per month.

Does it make sense now why companies want their loss prevention associates to focus on the organized retail crime piece instead of the opportunist? Professional shoplifters affect the bottom line much more than opportunists do.

Targeted Merchandise

Opportunists will steal anything, naturally. They steal because they want something or because they can't afford something or even because they simply enjoy the "rush" of stealing. Make-up, DVDs, clothes and jewelry are frequently targeted by these types of thieves.

Boosters target specific merchandise. Their merchandise is typically high value merchandise with a high resell value at pawn shops. If they plan on concealing the merchandise, it is better if it is smaller in size, however, this doesn't always matter to most professional thieves. Believe it or not, boosters often simply walk out with "exposed" merchandise! Examples of booster-preferred merchandise include: razor refills, white strips, printer ink, power tools, TVs, baby formula, box set DVDs, Oil of Olay products and leather jackets to name a few!

Car burglar in action caught on camera

Don't try this at home. Or anywhere for that matter!

Shoplifting Markets

There are a number of types of shoplifting markets out there. Typically, though, large corporations (like my old one) group markets into either "high risk" or "low risk" categories. Low risk markets tend to be in high-income, low-crime rate neighborhoods. High risk markets tend to be in lower-income, higher-crime rate neighborhoods. This isn't always the case across the board, but it is a good outline most companies follow.

Opportunists abound in both low and high-risk markets. They tend to steal from stores nearby. They won't typically travel long distances simply to steal because stealing is an impulsive for them. Opportunists are typically teenagers simply because of their rebelliousness. There are adult opportunists, for certain, but I have found that they usually suffer from depression or have some sort of disorder- kleptomania for example.

Boosters also abound in both low and high-risk markets. They will steal from any store they can get to either by driving (typical) or flying (for the elite pros!). Boosters are typically adults who know what they're getting into and who have bills to pay. The trends are changing, however, and boosters of various ages are appearing more frequently. Sometimes younger children are being recruited simply because they might be less likely to be watched by security (in the minds of criminals).

Stories of People I've Apprehended

Here's the part that is the most fun but I need to be careful for obvious reasons. I'll share two stories with you but I'll leave out enough details so that people will not be able to figure out my old company, details of when/how to apprehend, etc. So let's get right to it!

  • One of my earliest "big" busts was when I caught a guy doing fraudulent returns. I organized his case file and another store eventually caught him. He had a security clearance (which he lost!), a large house, wife and couple of kids. Total case value: around $25,000.
  • The oldest booster I caught was around 70 years old. When he exited the store with a cart full of merchandise, he was on his cell phone. I brought him back into the office and he kept telling me, "I had no cell phone reception so I was going outside to get a signal." I responded by telling him, "I hope you were calling your lawyer!"

Anyway, I have a TON of stories like these, some funny, some dangerous, but I had better stop here! I don't want to keep writing and make a thirty page hub! So there you have it! This was my hub on how to shoplift or steal - thieves in action. Again, this is a hub on the "business" of shoplifting and loss prevention. I hope it has given you some insight into the lives of professional, criminal shoplifters.

Next time you are shopping at your innocent neighborhood retail store, keep in mind that there is probably someone either on the cameras or on the sales floor looking for shoplifters. For a fun game, try walking the store looking for the secret shopper. You can spice things up by putting on sunglasses and walking around with high value merchandise (AT YOUR OWN RISK, OF COURSE). I've done it before with some surprising results!

Just remember, never break the law and never do something that could get you in trouble with loss prevention, the police or management. And I'll warn you- you probably won't get a friendly loss prevention agent if you "find" them. They might be angry that you gave their identity away. So, just forget I said any of that!

Some final thoughts:

  1. Don't steal, period.
  2. I can't be held liable for anyone's interpretation of this hub. It's purpose was entertainment.
  3. If you're thinking of working for loss prevention, DO IT. It might be the most fun you've ever had at work!
  4. Shoplifting occurs more frequently than you might think...

What Are Your Thoughts on Shoplifting?

Jane Doe 2 years ago

Thank you for your insight! As a store worker and seeing the sealing first hand. WOW! I get pissed. I have yet to learn what my rights are as a employee to stop these people when I catch them in the act. Got any ideas?

JD, I've also worked in LP for a bit, so maybe I can offer some insight.

Usually employers don't like it when their employees stop people for shoplifting (unless they're trained specifically how to do that according to their specific business's code).

Having said that, the best tactic is the "scare" tactic, in my opinion. If you see them in the act, walk up to them and say something with a loud voice- something like "hey, did you need help with what you're doing?" or "did you want _____ accessory with that item?" For example, if they're stealing a dvd, ask if they'd also like a carrying case with it. haha

Again I would do all this at your own risk. Different shoplifters react differently to this sort of thing...so don't try to be rambo with your words. Get their attention, pester them a bit and you'll stop 90% of shoplifters.

Life is about survival. I had a period of heavy stealing in my early 20s… I am 30 now and finishing medical school. I guess both things where motivated by the same reason not accepting the status quo, the desire for more. Don't call all thieves nuts. At worst I feel some entitlement, but its not a bad thing from my own perspective. :)

George Cloomey 2 years ago

Haha I can't believe you are proud to be a worthless sack of shit LP. I bet you didn't go to college. I'm making $200/hour and you are making $20. You are just a laughable rent-a-cop.

ok.....so 2 years ago

I've done LP/AP for over 20 years.....the goal is to minimize theft by catching a few on a regular basis to keep the idea to most that you might be caught...I agree with you...if you continue to steal you will be caught...so the question for a thief...."Is it worth it?" You can't steal forever and live happily ever after...and nobody wants to hire a thief. My advice to thieves...quit being a sorry, low life, lazy, pathetic excuse for a human being and GET A JOB!!!!

Interesting hub. I was at an art fair once when a large, black, male artist accused an young, thin, blond girl of stealing the jewelry he was selling. She kept looking innocent and denying it, until he threatened to jump across the table and kick her ass. At that point she reached into her jeans pocket and pulled out his jewelry.

The fucking stores are the ones stealing from the public. I mean 4 dollars for a tiny jar of artichoke hearts when they were always 1.69 is bullshit. Or the store selling hormel meals for 7.50 each when they are on sale for 2 x 7.00 almost anywhere -- proves the store is hijacking the prices to the point of ripping off their customers. Total shit. People need to fucking steal just to break even on the stupid prices. this includes wal mart.

And dont go telling me fuel costs and all that shit is why its getting costly, the stores feel now that they are free to inflate costs thru the roof freely. God damn cheese ball for 5 dollars that should really be 1.99 Fuck the stores forever!

lilgurl 2 years ago

Its hard not to steal when your parents only give you five dollars a week and not able to find a part time job no matter how hard you tried/?, i mean what can you buy? a cup of coffee costs five buck, i would have to save a whole month just to buy a damn T-shirt. na ah, so here come the problem solving just stealing it

Wanda Moore 2 years ago

Your information is very enlightening but I must correct you a bit on what steps a detective must take to apprehend a shoplifter. It really depends on the state that you live in whether you have to meet all five steps for an apprehension. Most companies require thier detectives to have all 5 steps but the state laws may not require it. I know for the state of NY where I am a LP detective once they conceal the merchandise they ahve committed the crime and can be taken in to custody and I can assure you a court will find them guilty. It is better to have more evidence to ensure the guilt though. Ive been in the business for 29 years and have never lost a case in court.

I love these stories. I've stolen for most of my life. got away with a lot. I've also been to prison for petty theft. for me stealing was a two sided affair. #1:to make money. #2:the thrill of getting away w/it. there lies the rub. when you mix the feeling of the thrill with something you are trying to get (break the law)away with getting caught is closing in real fast. there use to be a time when you could perfect your craft and do all right boosting but, nowadays with cameras and loss (instead of security guards) prevention specialists it's a losing deal. unless you have a well thought out scam with more than likely someone on the inside to help you, the boosting day's are over.

The funny thing "ok...so" is that I do have a job, a somewhat halfway not-terrible paying one (only $9.00 per hour but I bank about $415 a week cuz I always work overtime). Despite that, to be honest I still sometimes consider a little bit of "lite" video game boosting on my one day off a week just to get that much closer to enjoying financial "breathing room" I say "still" because I probably haven't stolen anything in almost two years (I'm only 21) but back in the day from towards the end of high school to a good year or so after I along with some of my compatriots were heavily into boosting. It functioned as a job AND something to do on a weeknight -driving across the tri-county area smokin' dope and hitting up 5-7 Wal-marts/Targets/K-Marts on any given night that we did it. It got to the point where a heavy heist was me walking out with 20-30 console games and couple console controllers in the hood of my hoodie! Alas...it did eventually catch up to me, I can assure everybody reading this that Target runs a MUCH tighter LP ship than Wallyworld or any of the others. got busted (by a "secret shopper" type LP agent no less, maybe it was you! lol) Between retail theft tickets and Target themselves essentially suing me I got sapped about $700. All told, I'm still way ahead for it though. I sometimes made $200 in a single night.

Nowdays, I've certainly "grown up" a pinch. Not that I feel any moral objection to stealing from department stores, more like I've grown up enough to see that there's more "to" what makes a given occupation good or bad than just how much ching you make for your time, exhibit 'A' being peace of mind through job security and a regular, steady stream of income. My career boosting days are over, something to reminisce about years down the road drinking beer by a fire with friends and remembering how brash and clever yet dumb we used to be. heh.

anoumonyous 21 months ago

Well,I must say I'm a teenager and I'm about 16 and I never stole untill a few months ago my friend stole a pair of socks ,and the funney part was that we had freaking hundred dollar bills on us both but she just didnt feel like paying for them.and so she told me Mary, are you serisously gonna pay $6.oo for just one pair of socks? and I thought about stealing for the first time I was shaking as a quickly slipped the socks into my bag which by the way was'nt too big but it wasn't too small, either. it was the kinda bag that woudnt alert salespeople. now we didnt steal anything for the rest of the night.but after that day we just would steal mostly clothes I got myself a whole new wardrobe.and we werent your usally looking shoplifters,we were smart we made sure that we were never in sight of the cameras or black eyes as we called them and scine it was two of us one person always watched the other persons back for sales people or people that looked like they were keeping an eye on us,at that point we would walk up to those sales people and ask for help and actually purchase something to clear up any suspcions.and taking of sensors were like the easy part we found a way with only causeing the tinyest holes in whatever piece of clothes we were stealing.we never did get caught and usally we ask for help upon entering a store to put to rest any susipions to rest. and we would befriend the sales person because we're one of those sweet girls that people just adore.we get great grades and stright A's across the board ,we go to one of the top 500 schools in the country which you have to take a test just to go to the school.we don't smoke,we don't drink we've both made a promise of abistence, well to wrap it up we're not your average stealers. to estimate we've stolen over 5000 dollars wroth of clothes from big retailer such as Macy, hollister,a&f we dont go to cheap stores.and we dress the part tp because in all honesty we can afford these stuff it's just that stealing has become a habit that I'm ready to stop I still cant believe that I shoplift, when just a few months ago the thought of shoplifting would scare me to death.we've both tried to stop several times, but the fact that it's just so easy and nobody suspects us make it so hard. It's gotten to the point where I have things and clothes that I dont even wear anymore and the shoes are just ridicoulos. I no longer can decide what to wear to school. so this summer we refused to take and pocketbooks to stores when we go shopping except out little purses and so far it's working out quite well.we havent stolen anything nor do we intend to.the urge is still there but without any pocketbooks, where are you gonna put the things.so you either buy it or leave it on the rack.I rather stop now with my record still clean, because one day I want to be a doctor and I just dont think it's a good excample to be setting for my kids.and nobody in my family suspects that I've ever shoplifted they just think that I'mspending my money. So I'm proud to say that I or my friend havent stolen anything in over three months, nor do we intend to for the rest of our lives.

man oh man. this guy is a rent-a-cop and sooooooo self-riteous. The whole part about the old guy walking out with his cart just makes you sound like a dick. Im not an advocate for stealing, I just think this whole post is dumb and pointless. The people that are stealing aren't gonna quit. And for the guy saying thieves will get caught is bullshit. I know people that lift and have been for over 20 years.

I would have to agree with lostonex on this one too. After the shoplifters are done, Im pretty sure the larger companies still produce a large enough profit. god damn greedy people.... i guess its just the human nature?

Yeah this is dumb. I've been stealing for years, the LP guys are obvious when they're actually watching you,

I've gotten them to circle aisles I circle and walk past my stare.

The grocery aisles have no cameras in 90% of stores, remove packaging, chuck in back of freezer, pocket.

And there is no Black market for walmart garbage.

the only profitable thing for resale are the 100$ diabetic test strips, small and easily opened.

Paul 16 months ago

I steal all the time ... i just stole some white strips from wal mart an hour ago. im looking for better things to steal and better ways to steal. I have to steal i have 2 kids and a wife and i have no choice. I dont feel bad for doing it because i have no choice ! how should i feel bad that I had to steal my childs diapers? I am just to happy to know they got them to give a fuck about wal mart loosing 20$, all they gonna do is just write it off as a damaged item and send it back. haha and a funny thing .... most people that work at the fucking stores steal... i know first hand :) ! (: if u dont like me or what i have no choice take ur have and finger ur ass hole... have a good day and see u at wal mart

This was really interesting to read, I have been stealing for about 7 years now... Im 18, i started at Biglots in california with a tube of lipstick and some nail polish that my mom wouldnt buy for me because i was too young =). Stealing HONESTLY isnt that hard i stole from students when i was in the locker rooms at school...even when i was like 7 i stole air freshener from walmart lol, now if i need little things i just take them it saves everyone the money. While i worked at walmart my parents would always tell me to pick up some stuff on my way out...they meant buy it though lmao. Sigh...yea thats always a rush but im interested in something more...i would likt to move up in the theif world. =)

I have stolen a lot of things, Once I stole a 64GB 4th gen iPod touch from Apple, I have stolen the £66 Apple headphone 3 times, Stolen about 5-6 iPhone 4 case, I have scammed a Chinese company twice for £1700, I have stolen from Tesco, Asda, Marks and Spencers, Waitrose, Pret a Manger, Lillywhites, a "I lost track" number of times. Oh and a £118 HP wireless printer from PC world (Hehe)

I feel kinda good for not getting caught ever, I will never do it again though because its not worth it, and I don't need to steal becuase I earn a good amount of money and don't need to steal.

I reckon stealing works best when a group work together to steal, one to distract security while others strike.

Hahaa..

My advise to shoplifters: NEVER EVER STEAL FROM APPLE STORE OR ANYWHERE THAT HAS DEDICATED SECURITY.

As a Loss Prevention Mgr. Who has taken out several store and district Mgrs. Man, that’s when it gets really exciting. You have had company lunches with these same people, they open up to you as if your there best friends.

Just like in Donnie Brosco. And then wham, you politely ask them to meet with you in an office with HR present and to see there expression on their faces, is so priceless, as they enter the office. I had to set up a pen hole just so I could go back and review it again. With this I must say Loss Prevention has the best of both worlds due to the fact that even though you have clearly identified yourself as Loss Prevention, you still remain undercover...Alexius we need to talk.

Ive taken 10 or so shirts, & enjoy the rush you get from it. Recently i stopped, as i dont want a criminal record. I also steal deodorants, 5 at a time in my hoodie :L I dont get nervous and have great ideas on different tactics, and beleive i was born to do it :) but i am going to stop it, its not really worth it if you get caught. Time to start dealing instead.

I'm confused. I've gone through a period of tasting/stealing at food stores, but then I got a job as convenience store clerk and started loss prevention! I even brought in a friend as secret shopper and foiled some beer & mag thefts! Now I'm jobless and broke and the need for stuff outstrips my budget & conscience... and yet I feel I have outgrown theft. Is it a phase? A mindset?

The whole point of having a business is to make money and provide wages for our employees. We would love to keep our prices low but the people stealing our products cause us to have to raise them. So as consumers, we are also paying for the company's losses and for the Loss Prevention team. Thieves do not realize the effects of their crime and how one item taken can create a much higher cost than the item itself.

I actually was surfing around trying to find a blog about shoplifters. I don't really have any negative remarks I just wanted to ask for advice. I have a very good friend. She is one of the best people you could ever meet. She is a single mom, a nurse in nursing home, an all around great person. I already know what your gonna say after I reveal this.I have witnessed her shoplift from walmart! She says she spends so much money in walmart every week and some things are ridiculously high priced so she gets a few 'benefits' when she shops. Little things, make-up, beauty products, ect... God I know it sounds bad and I wont be able to make anybody understand why I defend her. She has done this for as long as I've known her (20+ years) and has never been arrested for anything. She in fact use to be married to our chief of police. No lie. But I want to talk more to her about it and perhaps talk her into stopping. what would you say?

Quite funny how people can trace your (the people saying they shoplift) IP's and arrest you. And the ones calling others dumb****s aren't much better themselves; ain't in the context "you ain't cool" literally translates into: " you am not cool".

to be a good theif all you have to do is walk in ONLY look around while you walk in to reduce suspicion greatly, search for all possible emplyees during those 5 seconds and where your going to steal alsodont make eyes contact at all especially when you talk to the employees. aslo just grab what you want put it somewhere go grab a bagf from the counter and put the stuf inside and walk out it works ive done it many times

You suck buddy. Only a ego maniac without esteem would boast about busting a poor old 70 year old that probably has been diagnosed with alshiemers and probably didn't even KNOW he had merchandise with him when he went out to make a phonecall. You're just as bad as the pigs out there, onlym they get paid more than you do. You even had to resort to false advertising to get people to READ your stupid "hub". HOW TO SHOPLIFT/STEAL.... paleez... quit your dayjob

im 18 years old and i don't have a a high paying job as a baby sitter nor do i have the time to get a second one due to my classes at college. lately I've been worried i won't be able to afford my expensive brand of make up from sephora forever. bare minerals, it comes to almost 38 dollars for a tiny container of foundation! i love the stuff but thats absurd. I've been thinking of robing sephora . only thinking about it but it been a strong thought....i mean its aggravating how over priced that is right? thats crazy..

Dickwad (the guy that wrote this stupid article), how do you know the old guy with the cart didn't inadvertently walk outside to get reception? His story is plausible. People do that all the time that aren't stealing. You getting the other guy fired from his job? I sincerely hope you lose everything in your life. I will spit on your grave.

I've shoplifted. I was like 10. I successfully shoplifted 5 nintendo ds games from best buy. I was there with my aunt, uncle, and cousin. My aunt and uncle went to go buy a new camera or something. My cousin is 3 years younger than me. So a 10 and 7 year old were left alone in the video game aisle.

So anyways, I was so bored. I was looking at the ds games thinking of what I would like to buy. Then I looked down because I saw plastic poking at my feet. It was a half opened ds game case. So then I looked inside. I was SURPRISED to see that it had a game in it.

Now, I was 10. I thought they put empty cases and had the actual games hidden somewhere. Lol.

So yeah, I was pretty smart. I thought to myself "Well, games themselves can't set off the alarm...It must be this tag then." So I took the game out, and put it in my pocket. I looked around for other games I wanted. I took them under a large shelf. I opened the plastic covers and stole all 4 game cartridges. So in total, 5 ds games.

We left. I worried not. We got away.

It's been 6 years and I was never caught.

Thinkin' about forming a group of friends to steal stuff. Recently I've just been with a friend of mine and we rummage through backpacks in the school library and cafeteria. I've stolen an iPhone 4s, 3 ipod touches, and probably $100. I just started stealing these like a week ago. So we've been doing pretty good.

I swear though, the security at school stare at me while I rummage through backpacks. I'm not that experienced at it so my hands are all shaky and I'm moving so fast and fidgeting the whole time. THE LESSON IS KIDS, steal from students in school because most likely, in a public school, security sucks and kids are stupid.

I'm a 15 year old girl. Turning 16 in 3 months. My partner in crime is a 16 year old guy. I'm getting all A's except for AP European History. But since its waited my GPA will probably still be over a 4.0 this year. My partner has better grades than me. Teachers trust us and actually let us be alone in classrooms full of packpacks and tests we could easily change or look at. Which we do. Anyways good luck!

This post & author is hilarious on so many levels . First off , I find it absoultely comical as to how self righteous and entitled you come off as . How you think your job as a LP is actually respectable...LOL you're nothing but a Rent-A-Cop 10-20 Buck An Hour 9-5 Nobody With A Name Tag ... Not to mention a pompous clownass mothaaphuckka that needs to have his ass put into check .

I've been shoplifting for years now. Not because I do it for the rush, not because I do it on dares, not because I want to see what I can "get away with", not because I have an addiction to feed, but because I was born into poverty & it's on the basis of survival . I take neccessities & what I feel I rightly deserve for the sole reason of being a human being that needs to live . I refuse to go without & I will force my hand where it's not wanted to get what I need to get to live the life that I want . & until I get a job and make a good honest living , I will do what I have to in order to live . I REFUSE TO GO WITHOUT .

& That bullshit about how "shoplifting" is wrong...you can take that load of shit & shove it right back up your ass where your head is already firmly placed, as everyone else can cleary see. What would you rather me be doing ? Gang Banging ? Drug Dealing ? Committing Armed Robberies ? House Invasions ? Putting guns to the heads of the elderly, pregnant women, family men, and anyone&everyone else demanding their personal belongings that they've worked for ? Putting peoples lives in danger for my profit ? NO. I take from corporations/from the "big wigs" that don't give a fuck about their employees or customers....that raise their prices on each&every product that is put on those shelves. Every single items' shelf price is a FRACTION of what is takes to produce that product. So tell me how it's acceptable for companies & corporations to rip off customers BILLIONS each & every day, but somehow those that shoplift need to be held accountable for . It's pathetic how fucked up our society is- let the 3 piece suit wearin cocksuckin big wig mothaaphuckkas that have enough money to live their lives 50 times over continue to commit their thievery on a daily basis, but apprehend the small guys who are just trying to SURVIVE !

& While I'm on the topic of survival, I can say ONLY THE FITTEST WILL SURVIVE . So stores will continue to increase their security with cameras, loss prevention "secret shoppers", increase criminal intelligence...but criminal minds will always be a step ahead. Where there's a will there's a way, best believe. So equipt you & your stores with all that high tech shit & try to make yourselves look real intimidating, but you'll never eliminate shoplifting completely. We're a movement & we're mobilizing, money is the motivation, surviving breeds the determination; & we'll do what we have to do to survive, STAY STRONG SHOPLIFTERS .

I will be real with it though when I do say people that just shoplift for the fuck of it do piss me the fuck off. The ones that have the money to purchase the items, that live a comfortable life & do it A. Because they think they all cool & shit by committing a crime. B. Do it because they did it on a "dare" or because it gives them a high of some sort. It pisses me off the most when these muthaaphucckas get sloppy with their work. Leaving traces of their crime all over the fuckingg place. The tags most importantly. It's all about the footwork done in the store. & when motherfuckers leave the price tags & security devices in the aisles in which they do it in- GUESS WHAT MOTHERFUCKKAS?! The security is now enforced more in those areas. & guess what....IT FUCKS IT UP FOR EVERYONE ELSE!! & I'm not just talking about the locations in which the crimes are taken place at, but the ways in which you conceal the merchandise, the ways in which you dress, the ways in which you act while in the store....everything is caught on in due time....the key is keeping it LOWKEY & ON THE DOWN LOW.

I used to work LP and on a few occasions we had a person come in the store with an item bought at another store. A long story short, they made it appear they were shoplifting and pled the fifth until the police were called. Then they pulled out the receipt from the other store. Because the police had made a report, we were sued and lost a large chunk of money. Any other LP workers experience this?

february 14,2012 it was 8 40 in the evening.we were shopping to nccc department store It was a fine evening.while suddely my brother shop lifted a dutchmill,he puts it in his crotch and says to me"Kuya kuha ka ng chocolate diyan ilagay mo sa otin mo"then I think for a while Is it right or wrong I stop to think,I knew it was wrong but some urge in me just wanted to take the item so I took the Kitkat,I walk around with it for a little while to avoid suspicion then I put it in my crotch to hide it.Then my Brother took a kit kat and a demolino. Then I started Laughing cause he puts it in his shoes and his crotch. Then I ask my mom for money to buy chicharon.we started walking to the nearest counter to reach the shop.I stop to bu,but they were all out.So we tried to went to the parking lot there we took out the said items and so we started opening it,but halfway through the stairs a man said to us"huwag niyo munang buksan yan"from then on i was scared The men ask us for receipt then I said to him that we throw it away, but he didnt believe it and he ask my brother whats that inside his legs and his crotch.the He saw the kitkat and demolino. Then he took the items from us.the workers were staring at us and I never felt so ashamed in my life,he led us to the other side of the mall,to the securities office, there,a woman was interrogating us she said to us why we tried to steal the Items I said it was only a prank, she believe it to,she inspected our wallets and found huge amounts of money, she said to us "why do you need to steal, you already have money"from what she said,I think I was going to cry,but no,she believe that we were good persons that were only teenagers that pulled a prank. From then on even though she doesnt said it I know that deep inside she knows were good persons, after that she Ask us for our names and adress.then we gave them our friends name and a fake adress, there I was going to laugh. Then we signed papers never to steal again, and we paid an amount of 608.40 pesos,in which I included my brother cause by that time he didnt have any money.it makes me sad that I steal and My savings for one and a half month was half gone.but I knew that we have to pay it or that crime will go to our permanent record and it will affect our future. There we were release and we ran to the parking lot,and found our car,and we ask our siblings where are mom and dad and they say they were looking for us,I was so scared and worried that mom and dad would found out about what we've done and so I look for them.i found them looking for us on the other side of the mall and there she scolded for why did it took so long to buy food?so I told her that that they were all out and we go to the comfort room to pee.from there I told her that i lost my phone and I started looking for it and it took me 30 minutes to find it.she didnt quite believe it and she and dad gave us a good scolding and beating there I knew I deserved it so I apoligize to them for making them worry and I vowed to myself never to do that again..

I wrote this stuff to clear my guilt and conscience..

you can judge me whatever you want to do..cause i probabbly deserve it..

Sorry for my english Im not an american..

I don't know what sparked my interest in your site, but

you guys are funny! "Boosters?" What a joke.

Where I work we steal from you and we always will, long after you're out of your teens and 20's! You are already slaves in a system you don't even understand.

Oh yeah, when WE get caught, the govt steps in to help us out, and did I forget to say with YOUR tax dollars, well a few of mine too.

Hmm, thanks for the tip Justin. And thank you, LP poster, for causing shoplifters to be aware of what the consequences of their actions may be, if they aren't careful.

Anyway, I have to agree with others posting; you gotta have a heart. It is just as bad as being a klepto getting off on stealing makeup as it is to be the guy getting off on wreaking havoc to her life by busting her.

And all bitches like juggalohomie420ridetillidie reading this; make sure that isn't my family you're stealing from, or you'll have two wolfdogs on your retarded ass. I won't let them chew on you for too long though, since they'd probably get stoned on the drugs you steal to afford.

I find it funny how hourly employees at these retail stores even care when they see someone stealing. Yeah, let's help Walmart catch a thief when they pay their employees crap, don't offer health insurance and take out life insurance policies on their employees. I really couldn't care less who steals what from these capitalist scum bags.

Haha IV been Stealing since I could remember people like you are jokes, taking a 70 year old man into custody he could of been poor and lost his house all I can say is you are a rent a cop
